Welcome Messages

Dear Sisters & Brothers in Christ,

We are happy to announce that the next Congress of Asian Federation of Catholic Medical Associations will be held in Taipei! We will have a splendid opportunity to support, encourage, & learn from, each other. The theme is a response to the Holy Father’s call to promote the dignity of the Family. During our war against SARS, we had no spare energy to respond to the call, but we felt the deep need to focus on the Family in our medical & pastoral work: now, let us renew our energy & resources, to promote Love, Hope and Faith in our health care efforts, knowing that, a person’s wellness is intricately related to the wellness of the Family.

In addition to the formal program, I think you will enjoy the rich culture & Chinese hospitality, for you & your accompanying persons. Do plan to come to Taipei!

Sincerely in Christ,

Sister Mary Ann Lou, M.D. FACS

President,

Federation of Catholic Health Care  Associations of Taiwan

Theme

Love, Hope and Faith in Family Health Care

To promote the healthcare of the entire population, we wish to focus on care of the most basic unit in our society – FAMILY, on the foundation of LOVE, HOPE, and FAITH, our Catholic heritage. Good health care for every member of the family should include their physical, emotional, and spiritual care, in an integrated way.

Because healthcare of every member is intimately related to the whole family, we wish every physician would be concerned about the family. So the subtitles for in-depth discussion would be:

a.   Woman and Child Family Health Care

b.    Adolescent and Adult Family Health Care

c.  Elderly Family Health Care

Tentative Programs

The scientific programs will include lectures, country reports, workshops, free paper or poster presentations. In addition, there will be enriching social programs and liturgy worthy of your expectation and participation.

Optional tours of many other scenic sites will be available on Sat. and Sun. following the congress.

About FCHAT

Federation of Catholic Health Care Associations of Taiwan (FCHAT) is established on May 26, 2001 by Catholic Health Care Professionals with the purpose to manifest Jesus Christ’s love to humanity through health care, to provide health care personnel a chance to communicate, to achieve the concept of a holistic system of care for the “whole person, whole journey, whole family, whole team”, to exchange management experience and knowledge, to provide services related to health care and preventive medicine and to promote quality care to all peoples.

2) The Catholic Medical Association of Taiwan

3) The Catholic Nurses Association of Taiwan

4) The Catholic Pastoral Care Association of Taiwan

Each of the above mentioned associations retain its integrity and independence, but united in a common purpose.
